Anti-gun College student - I know, I couldn't believe it either

So, you want the right to bring these “tools” designed to kill people onto Virginia Tech’s campus. But wait, you’re trained so it’s okay. The only problem with that is the only training you need to do is participate in any course taught by the National Rifle Association. After checking on their website, a four hour home safety course would satisfy that requirement. I hope you honestly don’t believe that four hours of watching an instructor point at various parts of a gun and perhaps firing a clip makes you remotely close to having any kind of expertise.

I missed the part in his article where he explained why it was okay to ignore the Second Amendment.

I emailed him about it, and you can too: jdishmon AT vt DOT edu

Email to James Dishman and to the Editor, Collegiate Times: I read your article 'Death, and Taxes, and Guns' with interest.I find it amazing that you don't lend credence to the many government studies which clearly show that where the Second Amendment is not violated, neither are citizens. At least, not nearly as much as those in states which deny your right to self-defense. You are incorrect about another thing, also; guns are not limited to the only purpose being killing people. They are used more frequently to stop people from being killed. And talking about training ....! You are aware that cars/vehicles kill more people than guns? You do know that the United States Government says that more kids die in playgrounds than by guns? And you allow each state to set its' own rules on that type of training? How can you possibly allow Constitutional limitations on federal tyranny to continue? I hate to burst your bubble, but the pen has never been mightier than the sword. Or bullet. Ask anyone who's ever been a POW if the Geneva Convention ever stopped a sadist with a gun, or a sword, knife, or club? It's apparent that you trust your government to protect you. Perhaps I should let my friend who grew up under Stalin educate you as to "death and taxes and guns'.

To bad no one had a gun to stop this person from killing 35 people.

do you think keeping guns out of the hands of administration officials is still a good idea?
